About fifteen years ago, the popular sneaker brand, Converse, declared bankruptcy. Nike bought the company and maintained its name primarily because Converse sneakers are global symbols of “American pop culture like Levis and Coca Cola” according to reporter, Jeff Sommer. Today’s “Sneaker Industry” has evolved to include very expensive designer sneakers. Who knew the little sneaker from our childhood would evolve. Check our the images dating back to 1917:
