What sells magazines better than a cover story about how to look younger? Nothing! Any cover story that promises make-up solutions or fashions that make us look younger, sells.
Bobbi Brown did an article in Elle that describes make-up problems that make us look older. Not where we want to go. Here are 5 mistakes that can put years on a face:
Wearing foundation that does not match your skin color. Finding the right color is difficult to do without some help. The salespersons at cosmetic counters in department stores can assist in finding what really is a good match for your skin coloring.
Choosing a lipstick that is too dark. Lighter with a gloss is better for older faces, even though this fall’s colors are tempting.
Only lining the bottom of your eyes with liner. Line top and bottom of eyes as lining the bottom draws face down and we only want things to draw our faces up.
Applying wrong shade of blush too low on your face. This is a mistake we all make and wearing blush in the contours of our cheeks works when we are younger but not as we age. Use blush lightly on the checkbone. Again this draws the eye up visually.
Not adding color and defining your brows. This is a mistake we both have made, forgetting that as we age, brows can thin or even get lighter as in with grey. Practice filling your brows with a pencil in a shade of brown or dark brown but again with a light series of strokes, to recreate a thicker brow.
