As the biggest shopping season of the year begins, we want to share what retailers know and think about us as consumers. They know, for example, that we look at where clothing is made when we shop for high-end designs.

We were surprised to learn that some European designers are able to withhold the actual origin of where their goods are manufactured. Next time you see Made in Italy on the label and assume that will be superior in quality, think again:
