Christian Dior and Richard Avedon were two very different souls who together formed one of the great partnerships in fashion. Avedon was a modernist who loved to photograph beautiful clothing on the street. Dior was a romantic designer. Their collaboration changed the universe of fashion.

The partnership between Dior and Avedon dramatically influenced fashion, beginning as early as 1947. Dior’s New Look would be boldly introduced with exquisite black and white images by Avedon. In the 1960s, Avedon introduced Veruscha, the extraordinarily beautiful Russian model on the editorial pages of fashion magazines.

What we wouldn’t give to have been in the room with Dior and Avedon as they collaborated. Even after Dior’s early death, the house of Dior and the New Look continues. A beautiful book, Dior by Avedon, is being published next week and we highly recommend getting your hands on a copy. From Rizzoli, it is expensive, but consider treating it as a gift to yourself. The following is a great piece from the London Telegraph:
