Terrific story today in this week’s Forbes Magazine titled Reinventing Beauty. It is about four young women who used technology to promote startups, that include a hair and makeup company, an on-demand appointment booking and a modern cosmetics start-ups, all of which have turned into a $60 Billion industry. The women learned that women have changed the way they consume media.220px-Computer_industry_entrepreneur_workshop

The cosmetics entrepreneur learned to utilize Instagram as both a way to crowd-source information on women’s beauty rituals and market her products socially.

I have to say that reading their stories is not only informative but it does suggest that we can build businesses for our generation just as easily, particularly because no one else is doing it for us. One other point they make is that it is not longer the marketing mantra “Sex Sells”, but rather “Self Sells”. Good reading:
