Lucy has just returned from a buying junket at the Atlanta Mart in Georgia. There she and her team selected fabulous gowns for spring 2017. She said the gowns are so extraordinary that we all need to get some black tie events on our calendars!
She also attended several interesting classes that focused on the intersection of fashion, marketing and technology. Ali Lind, the trend advisor and stylist for WGSN, a global company that predicts the future (wouldn’t that be interesting), led a particularly compelling class.
Lind is responsible for forecasting trends for many of the largest manufacturers in the lifestyle segment of the market (companies like Target, Nike, Ralph Lauren etc.) She predicted the colors, textures, fabrics and designs that we will be seeing on the runways in 2017. She also analyzed the fashion trends we saw on the runways at New York’s Fashion Week.
Trend forecasters seem to find a hint of nostalgia in whatever they predict. This year we are seeing the return of Twiggy. Twiggy was one of our favorites back in the 60s. We both cut our long tresses on a whim to get that “pixie look”. Not a good decision but there you are.
Well it looks like that era is making yet another comeback with the “shift”. The look may or may not work for all of us but there are a few pieces that might be au courant. Remember Twiggy is 67!
