We express our heartfelt sorrow at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.
We pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth who was a figure in our lives from our earliest childhood.
We vividly recall watching her coronation on our small black and white television. Imagine how powerful an impression it made upon us as five and six year old children. Long before women’s lib and the 1960s, the Queen was one of the most powerful women in the world.
As Tina Brown opined, we will miss knowing what she thought as she used her “perennial poker face as a strategic, constitution tool.” Brown continues “ Amid the clamor of ubiquitous narcissism, her cool refusal to impose her views or justify her choices was ineffably soothing.”
However, she knew early on that she could and did have an impact through her fashion choices.
Watching a PBS documentary about her life, the narrator describes how she understood how important her wardrobe was. The black and white images of her from the 1950s in dresses and suits are memorable. To the end of her life she showed us that, even in her 90s, we are never too old to wear a blaze of color. She kept her signature look consistently over the decades.
We will miss her handbags by Launer, her Rachel Trevor Morgan exceptionally elegant hats, her Anello and Davide loafers, and her Burberry and Hermes scarves that she wore walking through the Scottish highlands or when watching her prized horses in training. Her hats made us want to make hats fashionable again.

We will miss your steadfast constancy, your elegance, and your gracious manner.
Ciao
