This week, we decided to take a closer look at Living Proof, the hair products line that is causing a shake up in the beauty industry. Developed in our backyard at MIT by scientists working in conjunction with hair stylists, Living Proof also had the support of serious venture capital.
The team behind Living Proof includes a molecular geneticist and medical and biotech scientists as well as experts in tissue engineering.
In simple terms, the products were developed with unique molecular properties that change the way our hair looks and feels using what they call OFPMA.
“OFPMA is a superior way to care for and style hair; better than any of the conventional technologies that exist in the market, like silicone and oils. This brilliantly bulletproof molecule creates an exquisitely thin, invisible shield around every hair strand. With this shield: hair becomes healthier over time; hair is strengthened; hair balances the flow of moisture in and out of strands, so damaging moisture flux is controlled; hair fights off humidity; hair repels oil and dirt so it stays cleaner, longer; hair texture is polished into a smooth, glossy lustre.”
We think it sounds brilliant and exciting and unlike anything in the beauty products industry. Jenifer Aniston is one of the celebrity spokespersons for Living Proof and we all know how fabulous her hair is.
Lucy has tried the Instant Restore and is a believer. I just bought Perfect Hair Day, the dry shampoo product that everyone is raving about. I will let you know.
But at the end of the day, if these guys were sitting around looking for ways to improve beauty products, why didn’t they develop a molecule that will improve facial skin tone and replace elasticity and collagen? Talk about money well spent and invested. Who wouldn’t invest in or buy product that really could improve maturing faces. Maybe Lucy and I should pay a visit to their lab at MIT:
