Almost from its inception in 2012, we have been advocates for the little giant, Maker’s Row. Nicknamed the” matchmaker, ” Maker’s Row brings together start ups with great ideas but lacking a production partner, with manufacturers in the US– making “Made in America” not just a great idea, but a reality. To date, more than 80,000 businesses have received manufacturing help, creating jobs and delivering on the promise that goods made in America can be competitive.
Weekly and sometimes more often, Maker’s Row sends out thoughtful emails that gently chide and guide their followers– covering topics like branding, sourcing, and the basics of design.
Supporting artisans whether they are in a small village in a tiny Caribbean nation, or in the workrooms of some of the most prestigious companies in Europe or the US, or Africa, is part of our mission.
In this spirit, we will from time to time over the next few months, highlight manufacturers from the Maker’s Row family and urge you to consider buying a product made by one of these businesses. In doing so, we hope to help to ensure that the traditions and skills of our US artisans will endure.
Today, we feature the Baldwin Denim Collection, based in Kansas (WWW.Baldwin.co) which sells clothing inspired from what they refer to as the grit and grace of the Midwest.
You can shop on line and also enjoy their lovely and sophisticated website.
And if you have an idea that needs to evolve from your sketchbook to a prototype, you could have no better ally than Maker’s Row.
Cheers
Lucy and Claudia
