So Lucy asks me to write something for our blog on Friday as it was my birthday and she said I must have some interesting thoughts about times gone by.
Well, I did and I found some things sad and I do not like to think about the sad things so I decided to wait until I remembered more of the good things in the past.
Since Lucy and I started this blog, almost a year ago, we have tried to focus on style and how women of our age can be stylish and beautiful as we age. So that got me thinking about how I used to put my wardrobe together.
I remember some of the great outfits I had and how they made me feel. There was this jersey blend short dress that I had when I was 22. It was pumpkin mango in color straight to mid-thigh, long sleeve with a mandarin collar and zipper front. I wore it with black tights and a fabulous pair of Charles Jordan black patent leather shoes.
Living in Cambridge at the time, I used to shop at a tiny store outside Harvard Square where the owner designed and made all the clothes in her shop. Trust me, it was hard to be chic in Cambridge then as the Square was crowded with hippies in long skirts, bare feet and backpacks. But I loved that little shop and it made me realize that I did have an interesting sense of style, even then in my twenties. And Lucy and I have continued to be interested in style. And truly, as women age, it is not about laugh lines and “getting old,” it is about carrying oneself with grace and style. We hope to continue to write for “our women and men” because we are a very powerful generation.
We would love to hear from you about favorite outfits from the past. In the mean while, we wish all of us good health and happiness for whatever birthday it is!
